Collins Group Ltd Michael Wenz Job Scam

I just received the email below regarding a job with the Collins Group Ltd company which as all the others I document...reeks of a scam. The return address for the person is a Michael Wenz. The funny thing, the reply to for this fake job opportunity is Michael Wenz which is strange. The scammer can't even spell employment correctly. They list the email as wenz.employement@gmail.com....the usual give a way that the job is a scam and people don't know how to spell and don't bother to list a website, contact telephone number or any information vital to me or you as a jobseeker about what the company is all about.

I do notice they want my telephone number...I wonder if they want to call me to wrap me into this job they think I'm such a good match for by talking with me and obtaining more information or what. I might bait them and see where this one takes us...but lately it appears just like all the others...a fake job and anyone who contacts them takes valuable private information and puts it in their hands for scams or fraud or who knows what else can be done with it. Below is the verbatim email:

Just make sure that you read emails thoroughly as I have received numerous fraudulent job offers in my email. I presume they get their information from websites like Monster and Careerbuilder. Just be cautious on your job hunts everyone.

Out of curiosity, I replied to the email, and they gave me the link to their site, which comes complete with a business address viewable on google maps, legit phone and fax numbers, and quite a bit of info on the "job" offered.

I didn't experience bad spelling beyond the email address of the initial contact, but I'm still not sure if it's legit.

...After looking into it more, it's definitely not legit. Most companies don't ask you to download a trojan as part of their "psychological evaluation".

Thanks guys, I too just got the Fortress email ...

Yup, I received the same sort of e-mail. I've heard of other job scams and have been approached by them before, so I've become wary of random job offers. It's always a good idea to google a company if you've never heard of them.

It's a good hint that it's a scam if only seven results come up and the first two are about job scams. Also, promise of immediate high pay is probably one of the first indicators of a job scam to me.

The promise of making money fast is a decent hook, but quickly loses its effectiveness around the wary.

Anonymous said...

I too have recieved the Adrian Dall letter. Wouldn't it be funny if the scam was that once you send in your 10 doller training fee, that they then 'hire' you to send out spam letters? It wouldn't surprise me.

Anonymous said...

I got the same email, but they changed their name to Steven Wenz and says he's from TM LLC and even provided a website address and an HR phone number!! :O

But don't be fooled folks!! Just bec someone has a website doesn't necessarily mean they're legit. Logic told me this is nothing more than a scam. A legitimate company doesn't need someone else to set up a bank account and channel money to & fro. A real company has it's own accounts payable/ receivable dept that can handle what ever they require. I've worked for one of the largest companies in the nation. I know how things are run. Not to mention I have alot of online experience. I'm glad people are on to this scam!! And I hope that these scammers get what's coming to them for trying to scam good people in an economy that's already hard to live in. People like this always get their come-uppance. ALWAYS.

Below is the email I received after not contacting them again.

I received the email from TazProg. They obtained my info from Career Builders. I reported it to Career Builders and also advised them that i am deleting my account until they can take better steps to screen the companies they work with. The best way, i believe, to fight this is to hold the career companies accountable for their security.

Love how Wenz morphed to Dall who morphed to Brown who morphed to Rex along with the names of the companies. The TazProg Ltd web site intriguingly lists FAQ, but offers no response to those questions.

I got the tazprog email as well. Such an obvious scam. Just to see what would happen, I responded with my resume. Pretty stupid, maybe. I got a response, which forwarded me to their website:

http://www.tazprogltd-us.com/vacancies/payment/faq

So the scam is essentially this: they want your bank info so that you can handle the transfer of funds from companies into your personal bank account, which you then send to the intended recipient via Western Union. Sounds illegal, so I'm forwarding the info to the police in Chelsea, NY, which is where they are (or claim to be) located.

I have never done a job online before and I actually fell for it. I have kids to care for and didn't research anything cause I thought career builder watched who posted job and researched them. Boy, was I wrong. I did one wire transfer for them and the funds were not authorized to be sent to my bank acct. So now I'm filing a police report so that tazprog ltd is liable for the 3400.00 and not me. I can't believe there are people who do this kind of thing. I've learned my lesson and I'm doing my own "background check" on the companies I apply to. I just wish this blog would have come up when I got the emails from steven rex.

Sorry to bump an old post, but I got a very similar email today. I couldn't find any reference to it so I thought I better post it somewhere in case others went looking.

Same common elements, Michael, high starting salary, gmail address, grammatical errors (insuring instead of ensuring)company that I can find no reference to online, but at least my gmail flagged it as possibly suspicious...

Yes, they are still at it. I got one from "Marta Nabrzecki" which is almost the same (word for word). Was quite interested as could do with a little extra income, but alarm bells went off at "we got your lead from a staffing agency" - I don't belong to any. Thought I would investigate before following up and glad I did - thanks for posting.

I was ecstatic when I got a job offer hat offered over $3,000 for the first two months as a training period salary, dropping to $3,000 + 8% commission after that. What a scam, working on people's need for money in these sad economic times, that are destined only to get worse. Whoever this guy is, in the midst of all this ruction, may he topple to destruction!
