One of my readers of the blog sent me the following job scam
Below is the email:
Having seen your resume I would like to offer you a position with our
company. My name is Sherry Stephens and I am the International Human
Resource Manager of Familymeds Solution PLC. I am pleased to inform you that
we have an open position for you within our company.
Our company was founded in 1982 and it has quickly grown to be one of the
largest resellers in United Kingdom of medical equipment and apparatus as we
as in the rest of Europe. We have contracts exclusively with hospitals and
other medical companies and groups supplying several hundred types of
products ranging from surgical needles and syringes to MRI and EKG machines
and everything in between. Our partners include top manufacturers around the
world such as GE Healthcare, Medtronic, Baxter International, Tyco
Healthcare, Philips Medical Systems, Cardinal Health, Siemens Medical
Solutions, Zimmer Holdings, et cetera. Our company has grown very fast
during the last few years and now we have expanded our market and business
to the United States. As such we have a high demand in terms of job openings
in almost every state and we are looking for dedicated and hardworking
individuals to work for us and help us expand.
Our success is due to the fact that we are able to meet our customer's
demands in every shape or form and at any time. We are very flexible and we
can honor our orders when others cannot. Very fast delivery system combined
with the fact that we accept almost any type of payment and great customer
support are the reasons why we have been able to grow so fast and took us to
where we are today. We take great pride in what we do because it is not
always easy to satisfy all customer demands while still processing the
orders very fast and receiving payments for the products in a timely manner.
We need you to work for us and below you will find the job description and
what will be asked of you should you decide to accept our proposal.
Job description:
* NO SALES INVOLVED! Very limited contact: you will not be involved in
any kind of sales or contact with our customers;
* Zero fees policy: while performing this job you will encounter no
fees to be paid in advance whatsoever;
* Respect privacy: no employee from our company will ever ask you for
any sensitive information;
* Total transparency: everything you will do is legal under the
European Union/United States and International laws as they are currently
applied.
Your duties are:
* To receive payments from our customers which are mainly in form of
checks (only U.S. emitted checks, no international checks will be sent to
you; All check will be written in your name);
* Cashing the checks using your existing bank account; do not use
checks-cashing stores, they charge too much, sometimes even 10% of the total
value of the checks
* Forwarding as'' money in minutes'' by Western Union, we will pay all
money transfer fees after you will deduct your 10% commission from each
order you process.
Your benefits are:
* Commissions: 10% from each check your will process in the first
month.
* Salary: within one month after receiving the first check you will
receive $1,000 as fixed salary.
This is a commission based job, the faster you process orders the more your
income will increase. This bonus is given to also cover internet, phone or
gas bills. Please note that this salary will be sent after 30 days have
passed since you received your first payment to process.
* Rewards for good performance: after two months of working for us an
increase to 15% commission from all payments might be applied to your
contract if you process and send all the transfers to us in a timely manner.
In this case you will be earning around $1,200-1,300 per week as well as the
$1,000 salary at the end of the month.
* Education reimburse
* Vacation (2 weeks for Exempt employees)
* 4 paid Company Holidays / 2 paid floating holidays
* Large and stable corporation
There are also bonuses for cashing the checks and sending the payment to us
very fast:
* Cash the check same day: $150 for each check;
* Cash the check within 24 hours: $100 for each check;
* Cash the check within 48 hours: $ 50 for each check.
The $1,000 salary will be sent to you in form of a cashier check.
The job opening is that of a Representative within the US. The today's
situation on the financial market requires us to open and fill several of
these job positions within our company. This opening will help our company
to reduce the time it takes to receive funding from orders that we receive
each month and we offer you one of the highest incomes on the market today
and the minimal expenditures of time.
With the number of orders we have we cannot put them on hold for fear of
losing our customers, secondly we cannot cash these payments from the US
soon enough, as international checks take about 28 working days to cash
anywhere in Europe. We lose a lot of time and money each month because we
have money transfer delays. Our clients could pay us where we want by
sending checks to an US address. What we need you to do is to provide us an
address where you can receive our customer checks. We need someone who can
receive the money through this method of payment. Regarding the check
process all you have to do is to receive the checks our customers will send
to your address, take them to your bank, cash them and send the remainder
amount to us after deducting all fees incurred and your commission. You will
always take your commission upfront. All fees for transferring the funds
will be supported from our share. Bonuses will apply for cashing checks
within 24 hours upon receiving a check.
We make direct contact for sales of products. Once orders are received and
processed we deliver the product to our customer (usually through USPS). The
customer receives and checks the product and proceeds to send the payment.
We accept all forms of payment but most of our customers pay using Bank
Checks and so to solve this problem and not lose any of our customers we
have decided to open this new job position. This job is legal according to
the U.S. legislation as it is today. Local money transfers take but a few
hours, so it will give us a possibility to get customer's payment almost
immediately.
PAYMENT AND SALARY:
For example you receive a check as payment for 3000.00 USD, you deduct your
commission (10%): 300.00 USD and then send to us the balance: 2700.00 USD.
In the first month you will receive around 15-20 orders under 3,000.00 USD
to process and after checking your performance records during that first
month the orders you will receive, may increase from 3,000.00 upwards to
6,000.00 USD. For example 20 transactions each around 3000.00 USD gives you
a total income of 6,000.00 USD per month and after establishing a close
co-operation with us you'll be able to operate with larger orders and you'll
be able to earn more. You will also deduct fees that are related to this job
(gasoline, western union fees, bank commissions, etc.) from our balance, not
from your commissions. At first the checks you will receive will vary from:
$500.00 to $3,000.00. We will also send you a 1099 Form for tax deduction on
your part. Our payments will be issued out in your name and you can have
them cashed in your existing bank account, we don't accept newly created
bank accounts because it slows the cashing process. Deduct your percentage
and forward the balance to the company attorney manager via a western union
money transfer, the name will be given to you later after cashing a payment.
This job takes only 3-7 hours per week. You'll have a lot of free time for
taking up another job; you'll get good income and a regular job. This job is
very challenging and you should understand it. We are looking only for the
employee who satisfies our requirements and will be an earnest assistant.
We have health insurance and the 401K retirement savings plan as well as all
the other standard benefits that a major company usually provides.
Unfortunately we can only start talking about this after the first month has
passed since you're working for us. We consider the first month as a trial
period. In any case you do not have to pay for anything in advance; there
are no hidden costs for performing this job. Any fee you might encounter
will be deducted from our share of the funds before you send it to us.
You will receive next instructions step by step.
Unfortunately we cannot setup any interviews now, as we do not have any
representatives in US. We will be able to come to meet within the next few
months when the new offices will be opened in your area!
Please let me know if you are still interested. Within 24 hours after we
will receive this information we will forward you a copy of the contract you
have to fill in, sign and e-mail back to us.

IJUST RECEIVED THIS "JOB OFER"..E MAIL
I have received Sherry's email a couple of times
I received this yesterday too and replied is this legit and I received a reply today with all the rest of the info Unbelievable the lengths people go to for money. I had received a check years ago stating I had won $325,000.00 and there was a check there. I did some research myself and found the people whose names were on the check and called the num. It was their home. I told them I had received a check with their names on it saying paying me and they called the police. I spoke to them also but come to find out that it was indeed their checking account numbers on the check but they were not aware of this. Makes no sense!
i just got this offer. crazy.
I received this email too. I thought that there is some illegal stuff here. if you have the good check why don't you just open the bank account, why pay some guys 10% commission to cash the check for you? now I understand the way of stealing money....sick people.
I have also received this email a couple times. I'm with the person who said if it's legit, open an account and cash it themselves. That should be a tip off to anyone. My thing is, it is coming to me through Careerbuilder which is supposedly legit for finding a job. Maybe I should contact them.
Yeah, I got this email on Saturday from CB and this Sherry Stephens.
No company name/address and had to dig for the reply to email address. Thought....hhhmmm...this looks suspicious....let me do some investigating and googled the "familymedshiring". Found this site. I think CB should be notified about this scam.....I'm going to fwd email to them...hope it helps others....
I think Career Builder is doing us job seekers a real disservice by allowing these job scams to exist on their websites. And they should do a better job of screening these fake jobs so they don't appear.
I too received this email. This is an all out scam.
Thanks for sharing. I also received this email scam and almost went for it. I received it yesterday from CB. I'm notifying them today.
Anonymous also.
I too have received this same email from this person. I continuously contact careerbuilder with these because that is where I got it too. I advise to keep sending careerbuilder these emails because it is their name that is getting slandered. And it will impact them very badly if people know that they have nothing but fraudulent listing contacting people through them.
I would not take Sherry up on her offer. It makes me wonder if I would be 1099'd by the bank for cashing all of the checks and then liable for the income tax. This is not legit. Career Builder should be ashamed.
I had sent "Sherry" an email asking her some questions. She sent me another email (almost) twice as long as the first one, explaining how "legal" everything was and she wanted to offer me a job.
She also named the following companies as their partners:
"Our partners include top manufacturers around the
world such as GE Healthcare, Medtronic, Baxter International, Tyco Healthcare, Philips Medical Systems, Cardinal Health, Siemens Medical Solutions, Zimmer Holdings, et cetera."
I sent her another email stating I am almost convinced of the legitimacy of this opportunity except for clients sending a check to an "unknown" (myself) instead of a reputable company.
It just seems odd. -----------
I have not heard back from "Sherry" - and NO I did not accept the offer.
Yeah I just got this e-mail. I'm trying to track down the I.P. for this "Sherry Stephens" of the header. I have a hunch it's actually some low life eurotrash sitting in an internet cafe somewhere.
Hey! Im another one that received the same email! What, do i have "aka sucker" written in my email somewhere?
I received the same email and was doing some due diligence to see if its legit or not. I've seen several comments saying its a scam but nothing to substantiate the claim. Has anyone actually had a negative experience? As far as being responsible I asked a friend that's an accountant and she said they would have to be 1099'd but if its someone from oversees they would have to invoiced for the proceeds sent to them. She didn't comment about the job being offered.
I'm just looking for facts so I can make an informed decision. Thanks
Geez people it is a scam...they want you to receive checks in your name...you deposit them and then wire money elsewhere after your commission. That is enough to know it is a scam...the checks are forged. Once you deposit the check and wire the money the check is returned and YOU are out the money! Been there done that...author of blog you owe nothing to these idiots who can't see a SCAM for A Scam!!
Note in the above the faster you cash these alleged checks the more alleged money you will be paid. This is to get you to deposit or cash the checks and immediately wire the funds elsewhere. Doing this makes sure bogus checks are deposited and then when they bounce back to you the company won't be able to help you in the UK where they are located. Have you googled the company name and physical address? It doesn't match...FRAUD!!
Wow!1
This is truly amazing: the amount of people contacted by Ms. Stephens.
I , too, thougt t sounded bizarre, at best, but I went forward.
Am i the only one to actually receive and cash a check?
I did excactly as was told, took my money and the rest is in my account.
emailed for next steps and...............
Never heard from her again.
WTF??
I may actually have somehow, scammed the scammer, unknowingly.
Or, if I spend the %% will i get assasinated??
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!
To the poster wondering about the next steps...I doubt seriously you have scammed the scammer...fraud on deposited checks or money orders can take weeks to be discovered. I would contact your bank and tell them what you know and happened because when the fraud is found the check amount will be reversed and you could be subject to fees, NSF charges or be required to make good on that bogus check. Please let us know how you are doing.
I too have been contacted by her. First thing I noticed she was emailing me with a Aol address. Second she said the person must have an established bank account of some time in order for you to qualify she accepted mine and its only been active four months ......told career builder
Just received email from Sherry offering me a job as well. I decided to do some research and got to all these people experiencing the same thing. It's amazing! Don't fall for it!
WOW!!! I CANT BELIEVE THAT I WAS GOING TO FALL FOR THIS...BUT SOMETHING IN MY MIND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE...AND MY GRANNY SAID IF IT IS THEN IT IS....I BELIEVE THAT THE ECONOMY/JOB MARKET BEING SO HORRIBLE IS WHAT MADE ME AND THE OTHERS OF YOU SO DESPERATE TO EVEN LOOK INTO THIS OFFER...GOD KNOWS THAT SHE IS NOT A JUST PERSON.
I also got the same email. AMAZING!! SICK SICK, SICK!
Sherry must exremely busy. The thought of companies writing checks to an individual was incredible. Hearing the checks would be bad makes since. Who thinks up these things. How can it be legal?
To the person who cashed one of these checks. At first I thought the scam involved check float. They send you a bad check that takes a long time to clear (or not clear). They then get you to send funds to them via Western Union before you find out that the check is bad. However since you haven't been notified where to send the net funds, perhaps the scam has something to do with your bank account. The fact that they want people who have long standing bank accounts is interesting. Be careful.
Got the same email today....emailed her back that "I'd take it" just send me the company name, address, phone number and a $40,0000 retainer. Let's see if she gets back to me.
Yes I have it also. Came from career builder.com. I read it until I saw the necessity that I deposit funds into my present account only...BONGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! I heard a bell...:O) I swear I did. Ya'll be careful out there...ya hear?
Sherry must have some "friends". I just received the exact same email but from "Baxter International Plc" and the senders name was Mollie Curtis. Thank God I found this site when I was researching the company. If it sounds too good to be true....it usually is.
THIS IS A SCAM recieved this same email from Mollie Curtis smart one keep changing your name.
Yes I recieved the same email but from mollie curtis smdh and it was from career builder. They need a better vetting process. I emailed their fraud department and gave them what for!!! I suggest some others do the same there is no reason for them to let this continue to go on. I expect nonsense like this on craiglist but career builder??? COME ON GUYS get it together....
Hell, I'm in my 50's, fairly worldly and wanted easy income but couldn't manage to fool myself no matter how much I tried. Mine was sent by Mollie Curtis via careerbuilder, (nice manufactured female British name). Anyway, I guess they're the ones who would send you forged checks from wherever, then look for money back prior to the bogus checks bouncing. So, I would think that the targets get burned just a couple of times before they smarten up. But with several targets I guess this Eurotrash could make some money.
RR
Oh, one more thing. I asked back to Mollie, if the 'education' reimbursement benefit would cover the internet fraud class I'm currently taking:)
Yeah, unfortunately its the only job offer I ve had in two years of beging unemployed. I ve received it before and ignored it, this time I sent in a request for more info, must be getting desperate unemployment runs out next week. Really disapointed with Careerbuilders.
Well..I just got the same e-mail Mollie Curtis. And yes, if it's to good to be true..it is!!!! it's a shame we all could use the extra cash..I wonder how many people did sign-up with-out googleing it first???? Careerbuilder should be ashamed for piting this through.... Keep posted...I am waiting fot there contract to come thro so I can read it..
I received email from Mollie Curtis yesterday it is the exact same as above from the Stephens person but different fax#. I figured it was a scam when they said You deposit the check in Your account... NOT!
Was also quite curious why a company would have an AOL email account and why they would say they can not interview at this time because they do not have an office in the US yet (coming soon..lol). If the were going to have an office here, why not just wait.
How do I block these emails. Every time I block one of these scams I get another one. If it isn't from Mollie, it is from someone else claiming they saw my resume from Careerbuilder when I don't even have an account on Careerbuilder. Between these bozos and the Nigerian 419 scammers, I may be forced to change my email address.
You would think Careerbuilder could put a stop to these scams.
Advise is to always Google before responding. Once you have replied then it's trouble regardless if you take the oppertunity or not.

From: "Mollie Curtis"
why is it trouble to just reply to the message?
Well, I found one of these on Craigslist and it's from LARS BARSSON from Baxter International! Interesting thing, he gave me the site www.baxter.se which doesn't work and his email is jobs@baxterse.com. Of course it smelled super fishy to me and as someone suggested, I always Google things that seem too good to be true and include the word "scam" or "reviews" to get more info. Thanks for all the feedback. As someone said, you'd expect to find this on CL but I can't believe how many people received this bogus offer from CB!!! Good luck to everyone.
I just wanted to add that they are changing names of this email. I alos received this email exactly as it was posted except the name of the company was changed to Hologic Innovations Solution PLC. When I googled the company it actually has a website. I still felt something was wrong so I googled PLC scam and found many people with the same email under different comapnay names.
I looked into the one from Lars Barrsson also, and I live in Atlanta. So it really is a scam?
I received the same email but this was from a Providence Solution Healthcare PLC in the UK. The person on the email was Courtney McCarthy. The body is the same just a different company name
Pay attention career builder! Having read posts four months back, you should have blocked this scam by now.
I also received this same email today with all the same offerings. These people are so outrageous.
Haha I've had 2 emails stating the same thing but for different companies. One was international healthcare solutions plc and the other one was United Healthcare Solution PLC.
Why would you need two weeks vacation if this is Part time?
I've received 2, from United Health Care Solution PLC, UK. Not only could the checks be bad and she getts our money but she wants our bank account info.. I wish I could meet her face to face !!
I just received this e-mail, different name- Michelle Foster. Different Company United Healthcare Solution PLC. E-mail is exactly the same, verbatim.
Hello G,
Having seen your resume I would like to offer you a position with our
company. My name is Michelle Foster and I am the International Human
Resource Manager of United Healthcare Solution PLC. I am pleased to inform
you that we have an open position for you within our company.
The original email came from Careerbuilder. I couldn't post all of the email that was sent to me from Michelle Foster.
I just received it myself. Different name and different company but same letter. This is where mine came from:
Grace Farmer
Alliance Medical Care PLC

Need a job badly, but this is completely unacceptable.
Hey everyone, I to received this Job offer from
Career Builder & responded to it. Yes, I know it sounds to good to be true & No, I am not going to pursue it.
Just so everyone is aware, her name now is
Nicole Thompson & she works for the Catholic Healthcare Holding PLC.
This makes me sick! It's bad enough they claim to sell medical equipment but to do so under the guise of Catholic Healthcare. You know that some Little Old Fair Haired Grandma is going to buy into this & send these crooks her life savings & end up in prison for bank fraud, all the while thinking that she's doing her diligence for the good of the church. And all Career Builder will do is put a Disclaimer on the bottom of these e-mails &
occasionally send out an e-mail telling use to watch out for scam job offers on their site.
I got the same email from carear builder and this is her new name.
Elizabeth Giles
Creative International Healthcare Solution PLc
I actually received two seperate offers, `both` from a Tim Dannels,(CandidateEmail@Site.Careerbuilder.com)
Human Resources
c.hr@aol.com
Elizabeth Giles is mentioned in only one of the offers.
Sure glad I`m not stupid and came here first...I have forwarded the emails to CB, but think i might play the game for a couple of days.

I got this also from Zara Lees of Molecular Data Solution PLC. I like to write silly stuff back to these people when I get scam emails. I just respond, but in the middle of my response, i ask if they like my diarrhea stains or something completely ridiculous.
Zara Lees of Molecular Data Solution just offered me the same position. Anytime that speed of deposit in my own account is necessary, it must be a scam. We all need to forward this BS to careerbuilder and continue to until they figure out how to block these thieves!
I just got the Zara Lees email as well. Don't fall for it even though it looks great. If only it was real.
Thanks a lot whoever started this bloke... those people are sick.
Ok so I just received this as well. So I don't get the scam, how does it work? They send me a check and I deposit it in my account, then send them 90% of it via western union? I don't get how this is a scam?
There are many ways to find them Zara used aol so aol can trace theISP, so can the FBI ...Hope Zara and others who try this like jail, and maybe next to Bernie "Made-off" or George Ryan
Wow i can't believe this. So this is really a scam. I received the email and thought that it was real, but it is crazy that there are so many people with the same email. That is very strange. Im very upset. Looking for work that is really and not a scam and thought i could trust careerbuilders.com. I don't know what to think.
yup, I got the same email yesterday in reference to this job; from a Zara Lees or whatever that broads name was. Horrible the lengths peopl will go to scam people out of the money they barely have.
I too received this offer, only from "Zara Lees", identical content though.
Here's their contact info as they included it in the email:

Same thing , an email from Zara offering a position w/Molecular Data Solutions sent through the CareerBuilder web sight . The sad part is I was almost desperate enough to fall for it!!! Because it came from CareerBuilder it didnt dawn on me it could be a scam at 1st. I just thought " hey , its my lucky day!" It wasnt untill I received a reply to a "For Sale" add I have posted on Craigs List - warning of potential scams that it hit me. I am contacting CareerBuilder to alert them and I urge everyone else to do the same!
This is definitely fraud. Approx 5 years ago, I fell for the scam, almost twice...the first scam cost me my account (no monies, but was not welcomed at the bank - big loss), the second involved "authentic postal money orders" which I took inside the post office for verification first. They also was fraudulent...not worth the paper they were printed on. The look real enough, but the postal investigator said they were bogus. This email from Zara Lees is the third one I've received like this. Beware fellow job hunters.
I have recently received this same e-mail, only the name used is Zara, this is a shame what people will go through to get money, but I am smarter than the average bear, and decided to check up on this person
Ohhh reallly wow what a surprise I can be rich ... Hay you were talking about opening a office... I can help you & I can manage your company here.....
Until unless you are not that kind of bitch trying to fool people and spamming around, don't try to play with the jobseekers you mother fucker...do you think I'm layman I'l report this to career builder and spam you & let the cyber crime cops know about this & track your IP & get you into jail.. You bitch zara lees,if you are true why don't you have a genuine website

I, too received this offer from Zara Lees. I knew it sounded too good to be true & hoaky!! So glad this post was out there & easy to find. Thank you!! Shame on these folks that work to scam honest folks just looking to earn a living!!
I, too received this offer from Zara Lees, but I got sucked in. My circumstance got the best of me. And I went as far to wire the monies, but I googled the company Molecular Data Solutions, PLC one more time and found all your comments and I immediately went back to retrieve the money and Thank God or his guardian angels for not letting me send the info for them to pickup the money. But I did report it with the Western Union fraud department. So thank you everyone for your posts.
