I just received an email today from maniro1@hotmail.com that stated they found my resume on careerbuilder.com (that's funny, I don't even remember submitting a resume there). It was very similar to what you have posted:

Being that I recently studied the employee training for Western Union less than a month ago, I recognized right away that it was a scam.
Shame on these people for taking advantage of people during these hard times and making them even harder!
Thank you for this post, and hopefully more people will do their research before jumping into a "too good to be true" venture!
I just got an email from "Scott Atchley" stating that I had been selected to be "check assist manager." What a bunch of bullshit! I knew it was a scam right away, I mean, really?
Here's what the email said exactly;

Then I was directed to a form on their website at http://frankfurter-gmbh.com/?reg.
They said that they had found my resume on careerbuilder (I never submitted one their) and that the job would pay about $600 a week.
Do not fall for this scam. Like the commenter said above do you really need it explained why this is a scam?
As Natalie said, shame on these bastards! Times are hard enough right now without idiots like this.

Also, next if you google the physical address of this location, "Rue Charles Calmette 6
Berlin Berlin 13405"
you will see this is an actual church location by the name of "Charismatic Daughter Congregation of the Christliches Zentrum Berlin" with the same phone number used on the whois of 331 25 72.
So this scammer gives us a church telephone number and supposedly it is is located at this location...
Yeah right. SCAM!!!
Forgive my ignorance, but what is he trying to gain from this scam? Am I supposed to send him my banking info or something? I got the exact same one after applying for an attorney position. It was obviously a scam, but I don't see the point.
To anonymous right above me, gee, it's people like you that can't see what's going on although it's pretty clear. Look at the job description.."The general duties of this job is receiving payments [ wire transfers and bank checks ] from our customers in US.
Every money transfer will follow with detailed directions." That means you receive checks and get wire transfers supposedly into your account. Your own checking account and then you take that money and wire or send it somewhere else. Later on the checks you are accepting are determined to be fraud but you've already wired or mailed money elsewhere before that happens. Then you are stuck with the amount you sent out that didn't exist in the first place. So you pay a fee and the checks you get are forgeries and not legitimate. DO YOU THINK ANY SCAMMER IS GOING TO GIVE YOU A CHECK OR A WIRE TRANSFER THAT IS LEGITIMATE IN ANY DOLLAR AMOUNT? Geez!!
To anon two above that doesn't see what the scammer gets out of this...is your personal information to supposedly "pay" you and your good money that you send out thinking this job scam is a real job and when the money he supposedly sends to you by check is a forgery and the wire transfer is actually fraudulent overseas. GET WITH IT!!
CRAP...me too..it was so real looking...but I went to the web to search and found this....should have known, but being unemployed for way too long makes you do stupid things...let's get these bastards.

They USED my name and last name. Could not believe it, although I recognized the scam right away.
One thing I wanted to tell you all. Just do not be so mean. People who ARE looking for a job, already facing difficult times, being humiliated by these scam emails daily, really DO NOT NEED to receive extra anger for asking a totally legitimate question: what the heck do they want from me? Some of us just do not get money issues, but really, there's no need to be harsh.
I also received this same email. Mine came from: "Charles Boggs" <nortie44@hotmail.com.

When I clicked on the "register here" link, it took me to an actual website where I could sign up, and even look at the different pages on the "company" website. Mine came from "Mamie Frederick" <compilerve98@gmail.com
I am glad that I took the time to research this before signing up. I was almost tempted!!
I received an email from:
"Alison Clayton"
for a company called "Austerlitz GMBH" located at Friedrichstr. 219, 10958 Berlin. I Googled the address and it is to the State Agency for Civil Affairs. I did one of these scams awhile back and turned all the information over to the FBI, who did nothing about it. It is amazing how real their websites look. Suggestion: take the check, deposit the check, but do not send out any money.
I got one too. Im mad as hell bc I feel that the job boards should do more to safe guard job applicants from scammers.
I can see how someone who is in a desperate situation might not realize its a scam. Particularly someone not very web savvy or someone naive.

I got one today from Carlton Connaly. Carlton wrote, "newly opened vacancy of Check Assist Manager at our Company for USA citizens". Out of Germany and he got my info off of Monster. I'm a farmer and never posted anything on Monster. But I did just by a domain name and the Greek all of the sudden I have been covered up with this kind of stuff, mostly Nigerian and Greek spam. I cant even read the Greek email?
Got an email today on this scam... Here is the web site address.... http://austerlitz-gmbh.com/index.php?about If you go to www.mrwebsite.com and paste that in the domain search engine, you will find under the Who is info that this website was just created on the 10th of this month! Also, I tried to email the person shown under Tech, Administration support, and it came back to me saying that the user dosen't have a yahoo account... pitekttt949@yahoo.com
So all these red flags spell someone wanting copies of peoples ID's
I just got the same email, but this one came from a different email address. Here's the contact details I was given from the scammer.
Austerlitz GMBH
Address : Friedrichstr. 219, 10958 Berlin
Phone : 030 902 692 095
Fax : 030 902 692 000
Also, here is the URL, in case you guys have a registery.
http://austerlitz-gmbh.com/index.php?contacts
Got the same one from "darren hughes" supposedly responding to my resume on beyond.com.
Just received one as well from joslyn millard (mhillaardjoslyn@hotmail.com)and when I clicked on the link, it took me to a site called Fruehauf GMBH. The domain name was a .tk domain and guess what? .tk domains do not reveal information about the owner of the domain. So I followed the information provided to report it as a scam to abuse@dot.tk
Guess we will see what they find out or if they can find out anything but I am a little taken aback by the fact that searching for anything on .tk domains is so hampered and that user information cannot be released. What the heck is up with that? WHOIS doesn't even offer .tk domains as a search option.
Guess that's why they are turning to using .tk domains now. Almost impossible for you to find out anything about the person behind the domain.
As an aside, you can tell these scams too by the poor use of English. Just small and basic errors but they are there nonetheless and if you read through what they send to you and it seems labored with wrong words used throughout, it is probably of the scam variety.
Hi there,
recieved the same mail...googled & came to know that its a scam ... thanks a lot for this wesite ... did whois on the site ... site is hosted in Ukraine ... saved in these hard times ... tried reporting abuse but could not.
How awful! I received the same email! Thanks for posting this!
I was offered a job as an "account manager" and even got a counterfeit check in the mail from one of them assholes and the worst part is that the FBI didnt even want to investigate it and said maybe the postmaster would look into it. They stole corproate identity, bank accounts and contact information from several (or many) companies and I contacted the companies involved and the one who's name is on the check and they verified that none of it was legitamate. Beware, even the most professional looking opportunities can turn out to be a scam.
I got an email from these people. I gave my name but not my checking information I am glad that I thought to look this up. I am so upset. These people prey on honest people who want to work and make money honestly and I hope something can be done to stop them.
I received the same email today for the Check Assistant Manager position. Knew right away a scam but my thing is how the hell did they get my real name? How are they doing that? Ive only submitted resumes on CareerBuilder to verifiable companies. I never submit to ads that are vague and generic. Does this mean they have my resume with my address and phone number as well or do they just have our names? Im always paranoid now Im pissed and afraid to use CareerBuilder now.
LMAo wow i wasjust on the last page of sighning thanks guys!!!!
Like the others that posted here, I received the same email which said my resume was seen on Career Builder. I just will put it in the trash where it belongs, since I don't know where else to send it. I need a part time job to make money, not cost me.
Thanks
Don

Also, to those being jerks about people questioning whether or not these are scams and what the point is, WHY DON'T YOU GET WITH IT??? We are in rough times and people are looking for anyway to get an easy payment. Apparently you haven't had the wonderful pleasure of being unemployed for a good period of time, otherwise you wouldn't be so quick to judge. When you can't just run out there and get a normal job, you look for ways on the web to make money from home, especially stay at home moms. However, to those who do question this scam or don't know how to spot one right off, please do some research, just as you probably did in order to get to this site. Google names, email addresses and key words in the email, like "Check Assist Manager". Another way to spot it is that the email address won't match up with the name (although it did in mine). A lot of times it will be like this: John Smith, jacob.andrews@gmail.com or something. They say there are legitimate work at home jobs, but as a stay at home mom of 2, I have been searching for about 4 years and have yet to find one. Good luck with your search, but please be as careful as you possibly can. ALWAYS stay away from anything that includes you using your personal bank account for money to flow through (if it is a wire transfer, why can't they have the "client" wire it straight to their "office", where ever that may be?). That reminds me of a scam my husband & I almost got sucked into. We had some baseball cards, shoes and such on Craigslist for sale and a man in FL emailed saying that he was opening a new shop and would like to purchase all of our items. He said he would arrange a carrier to pick the items up and he mailed us a check and some money orders. I worried about it right away, but my husband wanted so much to believe it was true. I immediately searched any name involved with the ordeal and came up with about 10 different locations, all over the US. I told my husband that we would take the "check" and "money orders" to the bank and have them checked out. The president of the bank called about the check and it was a legitimate check, but out of a closed account. The money orders were real, but had already been cashed. Glad we did the research, but it could have easily gotten us into a lot of trouble. Make no mistake, not all scams are as obvious as this one. There are countries, such as Nigeria where they actually send their children (mostly boys) to school, not to learn History or Science, but to learn how to scam people. They take classes on this stuff, they are not all as dumb as you think. Some scams are easy to get taken by, if you don't do the proper research and checking into it first.

The link goes to some site called: aestquhy@blogspot.com
I accidentally strayed into it but the next page, where it was a form asking for personal information tipped me off that something was wrong. So I do some research, see all the SCAM warnings, and then find this page. Thanks again for helping me out.
I got this email today, and it said the exact same thing. It was from an Althea Torres. I thought at first it was a scam but I clicked the linck anyways just to see what would happen, when I saw the "registration form" and saw that it asked for some information I did some look ups and found this page. Thank you! Cant career builder and the other sites used in the scam email do something to try to track these scammers? can't they at least try to contact the people named in the emails? I dont know maybe I am just not thinking hard enough. anyhow thank you for your blog.
Unfortunately I don't think Career Builder really cares about the people that register and use their services. Sure a nicely written letter will garner an apology and information regarding how much they are concerned for security but tine and time again these fake job offers continue to creep into Career Builder's job database. Monster doesn't care either...I challenge you to email them and to find out how little concern they have for you as a job seeker.
I received the following:

I got this yesterday. I followed the link and it brought me to Cuno Baar's website. They are supposedly a German company. Pretty nice website too; it looked very official. Must be getting some money from somebody. Too bad.
I got a Cuno Baar email today. I remember reading about this scam a while back, so I knew not to fall for it. The email used my full name and everything. I'm registered with Career Builder and Monster.com and I hate to think that these scammers are trolling employment sites looking for desperate people. But I know there are going to be some who fall for this. It saddens me that lowlifes like this would take advantage of people, many of whom are in dire straits by being unemployed.
Hey all, I have recieved this email from at least 5 different names and people. The problem comes as : a couple of these people have a fully operating decent website as well as contact details etc. These people have created a whole back story to make it believable. Secondly they dont ask for any of your details and show absolutely no interest in your personal information.
Of course it is a scam there is no such thing as easy money and I would be very careful in any such offers. It is interesting why the authorities are not taking any action against these people, after any such scam is in the best interest of the Banks who then get to charge us extortionate check bouncing fees etc. While the poor jobless like myself would get ripped off, the banks would get fatter. Perfect indeed.
Anyhow this scam seems to be on the same principle as the Nigerian million dollar transfer thing, except that they would ask for your details including the bank account details.
I was speaking to somebody and they asked me to speak to Attorney Generals office in California who must either know about this or if they dont if I make a complain they will look into it, and take action if possible. I am not sure if I can actually get through and they can assist but trying makes sense. I would suggest anybody else who have some time try as well.
If I am successful I would post the results here.
Many thanks for the blog owner, and others who have confirmed my fears.
Regards
Rehan
Vallejo, California

Yes got one also! Now it is $600-$8,000 per week. Same stuff.
I just got one of these Emails and figured by the poor English and suspicious-looking URL that it had to be a scam. Thank goodness for your website... now I know for sure.
i got one, is there anyway that we can scam them? do they send a check to your house? please let me know so i can see if i can work around this, if i have to give them my bank account info i wont do it. Has anyone actually gone through the process?
I got the same email, word for word... and I was so excited thinking my luck was about to change. That finally, instead of me having to painstakingly file applications and register site, after site, after site... (they all just cave into one another. Why?) Someone CAME TO ME instead of me GOING TO THEM.
I searched for what the hell a check assist manager actually is, and does... because why would you need someone to be a medium for your checks? (Then again... why does steam need to exist to be a locker for all your games? If steam goes down, you can't play your games, and if steam deletes your account, you're fucked.)
Well, like steam... now it makes more sense as a scam. The bad news is while these con-men will probably get caught and sentenced for it, valve won't. And that's if someone actually backtracks these scam artists and confronts them with law enforcement about it.
Either way, I thank God that the first result that came up was you, and copy/pasting what your email said, so I know it isn't just speculation. You saved me a lot of time, disappointment, and possibly getting screwed over big time. I should have known it was a trick, because who the hell writes checks anymore anyway?
But when you need a job badly, and you're being told you can make 500 to 750 a week, you tend to take leaps of faith. Bad idea. But at the same time... waiting too long doesn't breed results. The entire system sucks, and meanwhile anything at all that could help people maintain their jobs, breed new ones, or just help the unemployed, is socialism...
Well then we need a socialist regime.
i juss got this one :

It is pretty sad that they prey on people who are out of work or just in the market for a job in general.
This scam never quits. You would think that they would at least change the wording or "job title" or something just to avoid easy searches. I got two "offers" in the last week.

Hi everyone,
I received the same email as above individual, did the research on said company and became uneasy about this company. I sent an email back saying, "we are on to you". It is sad to say, many may apply to the email looking for employment, but will only get shafted.
Is there something we can do to stop this type of fraud?
I received the same email back so I asked them not to contact me anymore that I had forwarded it to my husband who is a police officer and he forwarded it to his contact with the FBI.
Good luck in job hunting to all and thanks for the heads up folks.

This is the email I received initially, followed by the return email I received.

Your profit will be $650-850$ per week.
If you are the right candidate, please reply to these email
I recognized this as a scam right off. Bad spelling/grammar and a throw-away email account like hotmail are strong red flags, not to mention the too-good-to-be-true aspect of it.
No mention of exactly where they saw my resume, any job title, nor is there any link included. I assume I'd get that info if I replied. Which I aint gonna do, of course.
If I've read this blog correctly, it seems to always come from a different person and email address. They must have a few folks whose job is to just keep cranking out new hotmail or yahoo email addys.
Well, as much as I'd love to take a full time position with one of their "cusmomers", I don't think I'll be replying to "these email" anytime soon. (And what the heck is a "liabilyty", anyway? Could they have meant "liability"? And why would this opening involve that?? It's fun to watch them struggle with English. I see in the above comment/email, the "vacancy" requires "a responsibiliy". WTH??)
I just got an email for a check assist manager. My 1st check is on the way. I m on top of it now thanks to this article. I m not accepting check when it gets here.
I just joined the "Business Workforce" group on linked in and that's where these @ssholes got my email! Same as everyone else...
This is what I received from "Bernice Cosentino." She says, "if you have the above skills...." There ARE no skills listed in this email, just job duties. Do these people think we are morons?!
